My Pregnancy This Week - 33 weeks

This is my first child. I'm very excited. Now 33 weeks pragnant, another 7 weeks to go........

This week my baby weighs about 2.16kg. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

这一周宝宝重2.16千克多。由于近期体重增加，皱皱巴巴的“小外星人”的样子很快就会改变。宝宝大多数骨头正在变硬，但他的颅骨还相当软。宝宝颅骨实际上由分离着的骨板组成，它们之间还存在着空隙。这种可松动结构可以使宝宝的头在经过相对狭窄的产道时有伸缩性。生产过程中，宝宝的头部受到强烈的挤压，以至于很多刚出生的宝宝的头部看起来呈圆椎形。但这是正常的，不会给宝宝带来伤害，而且只是暂时性的。他的头会很快变圆，但是他的颅骨板直到9～18个月大时，才会完全闭合。
